The Jewel of Jerusalem Story
Over 40 years ago, I accompanied my late husband, renowned artist Henry Dentith (known as D. Henry) on his sketching forays of the landscapes all over Israel. While he sketched, I would collect stones from the hallowed earth upon which we stood. It was during that magical time that I had the original idea of transforming the collected stone into both beads and cabochons (cut, domed and polished pieces of stone to be set into pendants and charms).
The beads and cabochons that still remain after years of being sold are true collectors’ items, for when they are gone, I, at least, will never embark upon that journey again.
I dedicate this website to the memory of the amazing D. Henry. Raised in a Dickensian orphanage in England, he relocated to Israel and devoted the majority of his career to painting the glorious vistas of the land he loved with such devotion.
With a piece in the Tate Gallery London and collections worldwide, Henry was truly as original as the concept for our stone of Jerusalem jewelry.
Now, as sole owner of Jerusalem Stone Jewelry, I strive to maintain the high standards of material and design that were the hallmark of our shared business endeavor so long ago.
The beads, charms and pendants that form the basis for our jewelry are manufactured in Greece, at an establishment known throughout Europe for its excellence of design and high standards of gold and silver plating and attention to detail as a whole.
